the songs for Film were written mostly in Richmond, VA. I took them up with me when I moved to NYC in 1997. That winter, as things were not going very well, I decided to come down to record the album with my friends. We rehearsed a coupe of times, and went in to record. Most of it is the first or second take. Half the time, we didn't even listen back, we just went with our impression.
